一、一、Teaching material analysis

  The teaching content is from Oxford Engling 7B Module 2 Unit3, Santa Claus is coming to town! This unit is based on “Christmas” to learn the relative vocabularies, phrases and the present perfect tense. At the same time, this unit let Ss know some background knowledge about Christmas Day, the biggest festival in western country. This lesson is the second period of this unit, the teaching contents are about the following parts: the history of Christmas, how to celebrate Christmas and how to understand the spirit of Christmas. And we should let Ss understand the differences between Chinese culture and western culture.

a.  to learn the new words and expressions:                                          turkey, decorate, stocking, Santa Clause, exchange, Boxing Day, etc. 

b.??to master the present perfect tense  

e.g.  People have eaten turkey at Christmas     since 1650.    

People have sent Christmas cards to each other for about 150 years.

2. Ability Target 

Listen: to train the Ss’ ability of listening. To help the Ss to listen to specific information.

 Speaking: to make the Ss be able to express their own ideas in simple English. To let Ss inquire about information by asking questions and offer information by giving responses.

Reading: to train the Ss’ ability of reading, to help Ss to read the relative material for specific information.

3. Moral Education Target

 To help Ss learn to cooperate with their classmates and accomplish their tasks together.

 To make Ss gain their confidence and achievement by the teacher’s continuous evaluation and encouragement.

To describe Christmas Day, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day in English.

To use the present perfect tense to relate past events to the present.

To use prepositional phrases to indicate a period of time.

To understand the spirit of Christ.

Search some pictures and songs from the internet. e.g.

Christmas Day is the birthday of Jesus Christ. Jesus was the son of God. He came to the world to help the poor people. He liked to help people, but he didn’t want the others to know what he did. He also wanted people to love God and to help each other.
